Sydney-Meets-NYC: A family Stay-Cay in the CBD

School holidays calls for a break from suburbia. A nice cosy hotel, tickets to a show, lots of ice creams, and a whole heap of core mems.

On a warm winter’s afternoon, I headed to the City to hang out and eat treats with the Morans on their city staycation.

I’ve been itching to try something urban. Away from the park, and the beach. Casual styling, raw and real memories of hanging out with your little people.

The cool thing about the CBD is that it’s iconic. You’ve probably worked there. You’ve almost certainly partied there in days gone by. Maybe you even met your partner there. It’s full of memories, as well as fantastic architecture and cool backdrops.

We started on the steps of the GPO, and then headed for a babyccino.

A city session is a little more documentary than my usual work. I’ll decide where we go, and identify the best spots. But you guys make the fun, engage the kids, and bring the laughs. And if there are any particular places in town that are special to you, we can absolutely incorporate them.

But of course, I’m never going to leave you wondering what to do. After we had our caffeine fix, we headed to the old part of town for some beautiful family portraits.

The architecture of Sydney’s CBD is just beautiful. The warmth of the sandstone, the big beautiful doorways, and the endless stairwells to play in. I love the leading lines, the deep shadows, and the opportunity to shoot from different angles and perspectives.

These kids were absolute champs, so to finish the session we headed for some absolutely enormous ice creams as a reward! #sorrynotsorry for that sugar high at 4pm, Mum and Dad… but I think they deserved it!

This Sydney CBD session is achingly cool! If you’re looking for a family shoot with a difference, this is perfect for you!
