When Sydney’s winter feels a little grey, the wattles arrive and everything bursts back into colour. For a few short weeks in late July and August, golden wattle trees bloom across the city, filling the air with bright yellow blossoms and bringing the bush to life.
It’s one of my favourite times of year to photograph families. Wattle sessions are joyful, bold, and so uniquely Australian. The yellow pops beautifully in photos, and kids love running through the trees and playing with fallen sprigs.
I run Wattle mini sessions in Centennial Park — my signature location — where the golden flowers transform the fields into something truly magical.
You’ll spot wattle trees in bushland all across the city. The Royal Botanic Gardens, Headland Park in Mosman, and Centennial Park.
Wattle season is short but spectacular — happening around late July and early August and these mini sessions always book quickly. If you’d love photos that are bright, fun, and totally Australian, a Wattle family photography session in Centennial Park is for you.
