Every spring, Sydney turns purple. For just a few short weeks (late October through November), jacaranda trees burst into bloom and the whole city feels magical. Jacaranda season is one of my favourite times of year to photograph family sessions. These photos are bright, joyful, and so uniquely Sydney. Kids love playing under the falling petals, and the soft purple canopy makes every moment look dreamy.
If you’re just looking for the best blooms, you’ll find jacarandas in spots like Kirribilli’s McDougall Street, Paddington, the University of Sydney, and The Rocks. Balmain is where I capture these mini sessions. I’ve got the perfect harbourside park, two sweeping jacarandas dusting the ground in purple confetti, and easy parking. It couldn’t be better!
Jacaranda season doesn’t last long, but the photos do. If you’d like to book a Jacaranda mini session in Balmain, get in touch quickly — these spots always go fast.
